Waipuna Chapel is an independent, non-denominational gathering
of Christ followers.
Our purpose is to glorify God through relevant Bible teaching and authentic Worship, building strong Christian community through Life Groups and gospel centered Missions, and serving families through Student and Children's Ministries.
To journey with people in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by loving God, loving others, and serving the world.
We love God by gathering together to worship God corporately in our weekly
We love others by building relationships and authentic community in our mid-week
We serve the world by using our God given talents and gifts to serve our local
and global community through
To reach the 30,000 people within 15 minutes of our doors
with the life-transforming message of Jesus Christ.
We believe in one God, Creator and Lord of the Universe,
the co-eternal Trinity:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary atoning death on the cross, rose bodily from the dead and ascended to heaven where, as truly God and truly man,
He is the only mediator between God and man.
We believe that the Bible is God's authoritative and inspired Word. It is without error in all its teachings, including creation, history, its own origins, and salvation. Christians must submit to its divine authority, both individually and corporately, in all matters
of belief and conduct, which is demonstrated by true righteous living.
We believe that all people are lost sinners and cannot see the Kingdom of God except through the new birth. Justification is by grace through faith in Christ alone.
We believe in one holy, universal, and apostolic Church. Its calling is to worship God and witness concerning its Head, Jesus Christ, preaching the Gospel among all nations and demonstrating its commitment by compassionate service to the needs of human beings and promoting righteousness and justice.
We believe in the necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit for the individual's new birth and growth to maturity, and for the Church's constant renewal in truth, wisdom, faith,
holiness, love, power, and mission.
We believe that Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return in glory to raise the dead and bring salvation and judgment to completion. God will fully manifest His kingdom when He establishes a new heaven and new earth, in which He will be glorified forever and exclude all evil, suffering, and death.
Waipuna Chapel's pastoral staff is overseen by a congregationally elected Board of Elders that provides spiritual
and financial oversight
Shaun was born in Cape Town, South Africa and has been a resident of Maui for over 20 years. Shaun is a home-grown pastor, discipled, equipped and released into ministry by Waipuna Chapel. Married to his beautiful wife Jessica for 20 years, he is the proud "papa" of two beautiful daughters. When not talking about the goodness of God and the beauty of Jesus Shaun loves to cook for friends and family, sail strong winds, surf not too big waves and spear large fish.
Long ago, from a land far away called Ohio, Tim moved to Maui at the invitation of friends. Waipuna Chapel was just about to be a new-church plant of Hope Chapel Kihei. Tim became part of that team and has been here ever since (1982). He's done just about everything around the church and now takes joy in helping everyone get what they need for ministry, being part of the worship ministry, and connecting people to each other.
Kaipo is a born and raised local boy who's been serving the Lord in student ministry since 2002. A graduate of Pt. Loma University, he has a passion for assisting young people in becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. When he's not at Waipuna Chapel, you may run into him spearing fish, coaching volleyball, or volunteering in one of our upcountry schools.
Maureen "Mo" was born in Denver, Colorado and moved to Maui 5 years ago with her husband Tom after living in Colorado, the San Fransisco Bay Area and Seattle, WA. She has served in Children's Ministries for over 30 years and is passionate about sharing Christ's love through her ministry to families at Waipuna Chapel and Kula Elementary (Kids Hope). Her husband Tom and two grown sons are her greatest loves along with playing tennis and enjoying the sunshine!
Karen has been involved and trained in early childhood education for most of her life in various capacities. She has been a preschool teacher, and consultant, to many of the preschools on Maui. We are thrilled to have her lead our Preschool and share the love of Jesus with these young lives and with their families.

Prior to that Joshua was the Youth Pastor/Associate Pastor at Pukalani Baptist Church for seven years. He is a graduate of North Greenville University with a BA in Christian Studies, and has a M.A.R. in Church Ministries from Liberty Baptist Seminary. His wife, Nicole, is a local girl whose family is still on Maui; they look forward to getting to know you all.
