Mental Health / Counseling
  • Mental Health Support Administration – Call or text 1-800-985-5990, the number for The Disaster Distress Helpline (DDH) which is a national hotline dedicated to providing year-round disaster crisis counseling.   • Personal Counseling Services – Adult and children; Sylvia Frerking (808-280-3536) and Theresa Cabral (808-280-8480). Retired DOE counselors from King K high school.
  • HAWAI‘I CARES Cares Hawaii can provide support over the phone but if more is needed they will dispatch the team  to the location of the person and we can talk to them in person! (Even buy essentials/ give rides etc)
    988 IS A 24/7, FREE SUPPORT SERVICE FOR HELP WITH CRISIS, MENTAL HEALTH, AND SUBSTANCE USE.
Financial Assistance
  • Peoples Fund of Maui: Providing direct financial assistance to Maui community members experiencing devastating losses from the fires in Lahaina & Kula. Adults 18+ who lost their primary residence in the recent fires are eligible to receive $1,200 per month. Apply or donate at https://www.eifoundation.org/peoples-fund-of-maui/
  • The Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kaanapali has been set up as a “one stop shopping” service center for federal, state, local and other non-profit organizations. People can come and find most agencies there.
  • Federal Assistance: FEMA disaster relief includes grants for:
    • Temporary housing or home repairs
    • Low interest loans to cover uninsured property losses
    • Programs to help individuals and business owners get back on their feet.
    • Information for these programs can be found at disasterassistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362.
    • FEMA has set up an in-person resource center in Kahului atthe U.H. Maui College campus (8/17)
  • The US Small Business Association (SBA)- Offers federal disaster loan programs including:
    • Business physical disaster loans
    •  Economic injury disaster loans
    • Home disaster loans
    • Information about these programs can be found at disasterloanassistance.sba.gov or by calling 1-800-659-2955.
  • Unemployment Benefits
    • State: If your employment was lost or interrupted due to the fires, visit huiclaims.hawaii.gov or 808-984-8400 to apply for unemployment insurance benefits.
    • Federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance: Additional unemployment benefits related to the disaster are provided by the federal government for those who do not qualify for the states unemployment insurance program. Information on the Federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance program can be found at https://oui.doleta.gov/unemploy/disaster.asp
  • Funds for immediate needs – Hawaii Department of Human Services – DHS administers the individual and family grant program , which helps with immediate needs. They administer the food stamp program for disaster victims. https://humanservices.hawaii.gov/
  • Maui United Way Announces Emergency Financial Assistance Program
    Maui United Way launched its Maui Fire Disaster Financial Assistance Program to provide $1,000 in direct financial assistance to adults who directly suffered a loss or damage and lived in one of the fire impact zones.

  • Baby Supplies:
    • Pacific Birth Collective – HURRICANE DORA FIRE RELIEF EFFORTS IMPACTING MAUI PREGNANT LABORING AND POSTPARTUM FAMILIES. If you are impacted, contact pacificbirthcollective@gmail.com or on social media to get connected with emergency supplies and additional resources. We are a grass roots, boots on ground organization based in Maui.  All funds go directly to relief efforts.

  • Fresh Produce at Puka Naz Church
    Anyone want some fresh produce? Puka Naz Church for 10,000 lbs. and is asking people to share this information. You can go down now and get some. If you want more info you can contact the church or just head on down to get your box. They are also giving groceries and bottled water. It is for anyone who needs some. You can get some for yourself, your friend or neighbor. They are located at: Puka Naz

Property Indoor/Outdoor Cleanup & Work Projects
  • Neighborhood House and Yard Cleanup – Pastor Kaipo is leading a team to do more neighborhood house and yard cleanup. Contact tim@waipunachapel.com or 808-878-6343 if you would like to receive cleanup.
  • Samaritans Purse: Working with homeowners to provide free service on Recovery of Personal Items, Chainsaw Work, and Temporary Roof Tarping. Requests are handled depending on need and volunteer availability. Contact Samaritans Purse Disaster Relief: 808-280-6714
Housing
  • Free Temporary Housing in Kahului – The Maui YMCA – 250 Kanaloa St. Kahului  – has camper vans available for temporary housing at their site. YMCA facilities are available to use for showers.Call 808-242-9007 for more information.
  • Housing Referral Service – HHFDC (Hawaii Housing Finance & Development Corporation) is launching a program to help connect those who have lost their housing with those who have housing to offer.   • Reyes Browne Law will be matching donations sent to Waipuna Chapel “Maui Fire Relief Fund” linked above. Now to September 15th after you donate, screenshot your receipt and send it to Rachael via email  rachael@reyeslaw.com and they tally then match donations on Friday September 15th.
Volunteer Work
  • Hot Meals Food Distribution at The Oskie Rice Arena Clubhouse.
    Monday to Friday, Lunch from 11am-2pm, Dinner from 5.30pm-8pm
    Help needed to hand out meals to those who come by, two volunteers a meal.

  • A Waipuna family is trying to complete work on their barn. 
    After completing the work they will move into the barn and make their home available to friends who lost their home in the Lahaina fire. This will be a long term rental opportunity for this family.
    Looking For The Following Skills, Timeline in Order: Plumbing and Electrical , Drywall, Prime, Finish Work and Installation, Final Paint
